Animation principles, Week 10 (28/03/2024)

In the tenth week into the module of animation principles, we presented our final developments for our animation's storyboard and our production schedule planning for the weeks ahead. 


Production schedule plan

Production description/proposition/synopsis: 

- Animation about Marie’s relationship with Rose Bertin and the contrast of the joy of her reign to her subsequent execution 

-Line test animation and adobe software editing  

 

Production / Post-Production schedule goals:  

- Storyboard - 1 week 

- Line test drawings - 2 weeks 

- Transferring line test drawing to digital - 1 week 

- Adobe software editing animation - 2 weeks 

- Additional editing (sound design and title/credits)- 1 week

In the eight week into the module of animation principles, we continued our exploration of the importance of thumbnailing and creating storyboards to visualise a specific message for the audience.  During this task, we were given a specific word to communicate in eight panels of diverse illustrations. The word I was given was "motivated". While I began thumbnailing and exploring my ideas (as shown below), I decided to make the storyboard about a musician being motivated to practice they're instrument after watching a performance on tv. Once I'd created this eight panel storyboard, everyone else in the group had to guess the chosen word for the storyboard through the panel's visualisations. However, most people thought the word was inspiration as it wasn't made clear in the beginning of the storyboard that the main character was needing to practice/was a musician.  This task notably enhanced my understanding and gave me new ways to view my developing storyboard...

Animation principles, Week 2 (30/01/2024)

In the second week into the module of animation principles, we explored and developed flipbook animations of variations of movements with balloons. For this task, we used video references of three different balloon movements; a balloon being flicked, a balloon filled with air being released and a water balloon falling from a height. With post it note pad, I created three different flip animations with 30+ drawings/frames per animation. Flick balloon In this animation, I didn't capture the speed of the balloon very well as the distance between the frames in moments such as the impact with the ground and the flick. Also, I wasn't able to capture the squash and squeeze at the impact of the fall very well. If I was to do this animation again, I would have increased the exaggeration of the impacts to visually communicate the speed and gravitational impact.
